Our Values

Parent FocusedOur values rest upon helping you understand your infant's developing skills and abilities and providing you with insight and tools to make better informed parenting decisions for your unique child.

Your love for your baby and your baby’s attachment to you are the foundation of your baby’s development. As a parent you have the power to foster that attachment by your caring support and nourishment of all of your infant’s developmental milestones from crawling and walking to babbling and talking, and from intellectual understanding to emotional control.

The best way to exercise that power and to nurture that loving relationship is to understand your baby’s unique needs as they develop and mature during the first years of life.

Helping

Just Ask Baby is a new and different type of parenting resource that takes well-established science on infant development and presents it from a baby’s point of view in unique, exclusive video content as well as through interactive tools that help you track your baby’s development. Just Ask baby is designed to equip you with the appropriate insight and tools for meeting your child’s needs, for building your infant’s attachment to you and for ensuring that your infant maximizes his or her full intellectual, emotional and social potential.

Just Ask Baby can help you...

  • make better informed parenting decisions
  • build positive and lasting bonds with your child

  • develop the foundation for a happy and emotionally secure life for your child
  • nurture your child’s confidence, intelligence, independence, trust, curiosity and desire to learn

Understanding

Just Ask Baby understands that your child is unique and will take his or her own time to move through their developmental stepping-stones. By focusing your energies on understanding your child’s unique world, you not only open their world up for them, and positively support them along their journey, but you also free yourself from worrying whether or not your child is progressing at the “right” pace. After all, babies learn and grow more in their first five years than at any other time of their lives, and you're learning right along with them.

"Babies are born learning and all children learn and grow more in their first five years than at any other time in their lives."

Scientific integrity

At Just Ask Baby our goal is to support, inform and empower parents, rather than preach one-size-fits-all solutions or sell a particular “Parenting Theory.” All our content is based on proven scientific research and understanding that has emerged over many decades of work by some of the greatest thinkers in this discipline, in particular David Elkind, Sigmund Freud, Jean Piaget and Erik Erikson, among others. And it’s all delivered in a unique, entertaining and accessible format - no science degree required!

Independent, Unsponsored & Uninfluenced

Many parenting websites are sponsored or have ties to manufacturers of baby-related products. Not us! The information we provide is 100% based on decades of scientific research by some of the leading child development experts. We are also 100% unsponsored by manufacturers and 100% uninfluenced by advertisers. Our aim is to inform you rather than sell to you, and we will never sell or share your personal information with manufacturers or anyone else.

About Us

Mark and Michelle Hamilton developed Just Ask Baby because they believed that greater understanding of the very different way infants perceive the world is critical information for helping parents make decisions for their unique infants. They also wanted to bring their extensive online experience to make this scientific information accessible to parents in a fun and interesting way, because despite all the websites and books out there it’s hard to find practical, easy-to-understand information focusing on children’s social, emotional and intellectual development.

While science has clearly demonstrated that the early experiences of children from birth to age five lay the foundations of all subsequent development, and have long-term impacts on children as they grow into adults - particularly in areas such as self-confidence, intelligence and emotional stability - most sites focus mainly on children’s physical development.

To access the science they partnered with renowned child psychologist, professor and author David Elkind P.h.D, Just Ask Baby’s Chief Scientific Advisor, whose work incorporates and builds on the research of three of the most important theorists in the area of child development of the twentieth and early twenty-first century – Sigmund Freud, Jean Piaget and Erik Erikson.

The Hamilton team did extensive research with focus groups and panels of mothers, getting feedback and input that helped shaped the creation and ongoing evolution of Just Ask Baby. The content on Just Ask Baby is not just 100% science-based and reliable, but it’s also presented through easy-to-understand videos and interactive technologies that allow parents and caregivers to explore their child’s world in a whole new way.

The Truth About Toys for Infants

Toys are the child's means of discovering both self and the world. Infant learning can be damaged by too many toys, or by toys that are not developmentally appropriate for your infant's age and stage. View eBook »
