starting solids
Every baby is ready to start solids at a different time, but the WHO recommends that babies are breast/formula fed for at least the first three months of their life and preferably six months. Some kids can make do on milk/formula for the full six months, others are interested in eating sooner. Signs of readiness for starting solids include your baby watching you eat and reaching for your food and the ability to sit up (supported). It's best to check with your doctor or pediatrician before you start your babe on solids too. And if there are risks for allergies in your family (if your baby's had cradle cap or eczema that can indicate a risk of allergies for example) there is an order you should introduce foods in. Again, ask your doctor or a dietitian. And remember, it's going to be SO messy in the beginning and more will go out than in, but it's all part of the process and if you can let go of the mess it can be fun too!
