Consistency and routine from secondary carers
An unfortunate flip side of this is the potential for a child to be unsettled when secondary carers are unaware of the subtle nuances of the consistency and routine the child has come to expect. For example, different carers in a childcare setting will have different ways of say, changing a diaper or holding a child. Few people would stop and think that doing such simple routine tasks a different way may have an unsettling effect on a child. It's therefore crucial for good communication between primary carers (parents, guardians, etc) and secondary carers (childminders, childcare practitioners, etc), so that secondary carers can be made aware of the specific routines a child is used to, and they can then adapt to suit the child's needs.
