Why You Should Watch
A newborn's vision is very unclear and the world appears large and fuzzy, so when they're tiny and new they start learning about their world through their other senses. Find out why it's important not to expose your baby to strong flavors and smells or loud noises. Get a child's perspective on why lots of cuddles and kisses are important to their development and find out what colors and images will help your baby's vision develop. You'll also find useful ideas for how to give your baby a sense of security and make them feel safe and loved, in part by supporting their development at their own unique pace.
What you'll see from a baby’s eye view:
- How taste and smell are 'chemical senses'
- How your voice gives your baby a sense of continuity from the womb into the world
- Why touch is one of the easiest languages for a newborn to understand
- Why bright lights and rapidly changing images overwhelm your baby
- What types of colors and images are easiest for baby to process
What you'll discover:
- How to reassure, comfort and cuddle your newborn
- Why it’s important to chat to your child as you go about your day
- Why TV is too much for newborn’s systems to handle
- How to visually introduce your child to new objects and toys
- How your baby’s senses develop
Understanding how your newborn experiences their world allows you to make that world less stressful for your baby, and thus you too. It also helps you help them make sense of all their new experiences.
