Why You Should Watch
"Phonemes" are basic sound units in different languages. Put them together and they make words. Babies under about six-months-old are able to distinguish phonemes in different languages, but they gradually lose this ability, zeroing in on the phonemes that help them master their native language (or languages). Learn how creating a language-rich universe for your tot stimulates their healthy language development.
What you’ll see from a baby’s eye view:
- Why your baby loves it when you use their name frequently in conversation
- How your baby’s ability to grasp different sounds – or phonemes - changes as they grow
- How your baby’s sense of self is developing
What you’ll discover:
- Why it’s important to speak slowly and clearly around your baby, not just to your baby
- How your child’s language development helps you bond with your baby
- How to help your child discover their new world
The more you understand about your baby’s language development, the easier it will be to spot and applaud those "aha" moments as your little one hones their ability to communicate with you.
