It helps to have a strategy in place, and this video shows how babies prefer a “gently-does-it” approach to their first interactions with new people and provides invaluable, effective parenting tips on reducing stranger anxiety. This insight will help you help your child grow up feeling comfortable around new people.

What you’ll see from a baby’s eye view:

slow to warm up

When my girlfriend came over the other day, my 8 month old Cara  would have nothing to do with her. Every time my friend tried to talk, play or hold Cara, she turned away and clung to me. We tried an interesting approach which seemed to work. I asked my friend to sit next to Cara and read her favorite book, and sure enough, Cara slowly started to look at my friend and show some interest. Before we knew it they were playing and giggling together! Success!
