Trees and Play
Trees are nature’s gift to children. They are symbols of strength, of flexibility and of endurance. Children can climb trees, relax in their shade and hide behind them. Trees are also one of the first subjects of children’s drawings and bark rubbings. And trees afford homes for squirrels and birds and thus provide a living nature museum for children to observe and wonder at. Last, but certainly not least, trees provide emotional support and encouragement. Perhaps that is why is not so unusual for children to hug trees.
